A reunited rock group is expected to release its first new album in 24 years.
Pulp, led by singer Jarvis Cocker, announced Thursday that “More” will be released on June 6. They released the first single, “Spike Island”, with a clip directed by Cocker.
“When we started to shoot in 2023 again, we practiced a new song entitled” Hymn of the North “at Soundchecks and we finally played it at the end of our second night in Sheffield Arena. “A couple are alarm clock of the last century.”
“More” is Pulp’s first album since “We Love Life” in 2001. The independent pop / alternative group group went to glory during the Britpop wave of the 90s, with Oasis, thanks to songs like “Common People”, “Disco 2000”, “Babies”, “remember the first time?” And “something has changed”.
Pulp took a break from 2001 to 2011, then briefly gathered and released a new song, “After You”, in 2013. After another break, the group joined a reunion tour in 2023.
“More” will present a song written by Richard Hawley, another written by Jason Buckle, voices of the ENO family, and string arrangements written by Richard Jones and played by the Elysian collective. The album is dedicated to the Steve Mackey paste bass player, who died in 2023.
According to Pitchfork, Pulp recorded the album for three weeks in London in November. Cocker said it was the shortest quantity of recording time that the paste to record needed, the appellant “obviously ready to occur”.
“We hope you appreciate music,” said Cocker, noting that no IA was involved in the process. “This is the best we can do. Thank you for listening. “
Pulp has a handful of British concerts scheduled for this summer, followed by two shows scheduled from September 25 to 26 with LCD Soundsystem at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Tickets for Los Angeles concerts are available via Ticketmaster, Vivid Seats and Stubhub.
