Robert MacIntyre wins 2024 Scottish Open: how much does he earn?

Robert MacIntyre claimed a thrilling victory at the Scottish Open on Sunday.

The tournament ended on the 18th hole when McIntyre had to make a long 22-foot putt to clinch victory over Adam Scott. The crowd was silent but erupted in cheers when MacIntyre birdied the birdie to move to 18 under par and win the tournament.

“This is the one I wanted and the one I got,” he said. “I can’t believe this happened.”

MacIntyre took home a nice payday for the win.

He went home with a check for $1.62 million on a $9 million purse. Scott won $981,000.

MacIntyre was two shots behind with three holes to play.

On the 16th hole, he hit his tee shot deep into the grass. As he approached his ball and took a practice swing, MacIntyre felt a sprinkler. He was able to make a free drop into the shorter grass, which allowed him to pull out his 6-iron and hit a shot that gave him an incredible approach.

Scott’s eagle putt tied the game, and MacIntyre won on the 18th hole.

The Scottish Open was his second PGA Tour victory and third European Tour victory of his career. He won the RBC Canadian Open last June.

The Open Championship is next on the schedule. His best finish was in 2019, when he tied for sixth. He tied for 71st last year.

“A lot of people have said, ‘He doesn’t quite have this, he doesn’t quite have that.’ But I’m fighting,” MacIntyre said. “That’s all I need.”
