Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, has seized a new bold opportunity by participating in an underwear campaign for Australian brand obligations. The campaign, which marks the launch of the United States of Bonds, presents Irwin posing with poisonous snakes, spiders and lizards. The provocative nature of the campaign drew special attention, but Irwin, known for its appearances in terms of conservation and television work, was impatient to take up the challenge.
In an exclusive interview with People, Irwin explained that his decision to participate was immediate and motivated by his passion for keeping new experiences.
“It was a fairly immediate yes,” said the 21 -year -old ecologist and television personality, laughing.
“I would like to be able to say that I was very sweet and cool about all of this, but I said to myself:” Yes! Let’s do it! “Because obligations in Australia are an absolute icon,” he adds. “In addition, I am at this stage of my life where I try to do so many different and random fascinating things, and if it is something that makes me a little nervous, that I have never done before and it is a bit of a rush to adrenaline? This is what I want to do.”
To prepare for the campaign, Irwin focused on the entry in physical shape. While continuing his daily tasks at the Australian zoo, he also added additional training sessions to his routine, reduces carbohydrates and participated in activities like Hill Sprints. His family, including his brother-in-law Chandler, a professional athlete, and his mother, a former bodybuilder, gave encouragement and advice throughout his fitness journey.
The former zookeeper says that he also had no scruples to pose with snakes, lizards and spiders (most of whom were poisonous!) For the campaign “Made for Down Under”.
“I mean, I spent my life struggling with fangs and snakes and saving animals. And therefore to present a small slice of this excitement in this new campaign, guy, it was so fun. I mean, I am surrounded by spiders and snakes, except (this time) I am in my subdums. This is the only difference.”
