LONDON — As many as five horses – including at least one drenched in blood – caused chaos in central London on Wednesday morning after breaking loose in Westminster, police said.
“We are aware of a number of horses currently on the loose in central London and are working with colleagues, including the military, to locate them,” Westminster Police said in a statement released on Wednesday morning. social networks.
Initial reports indicate the horses may have come from the Household Calvary, the British monarch’s ceremonial guard, in Westminster.
One of the horses is believed to have crashed into the front of a double-decker bus while another injured horse was seen bloodied and running through central London traffic.
The Household Calvary is made up of regiments of the British Army and is responsible for the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.
It is not clear how long the incident lasted, but the horses are believed to have run around 6 miles before being confined by authorities in east London.
