Seattle – Rite Aid should close 14 additional stores in the North West as part of its current bankruptcy procedure.
The pharmacies chain, which filed a request for the bankruptcy protection of chapter 11 last week, initially planned to close 47 stores, including six in Washington and Oregon. However, the updated documents published on Friday extended the closure list to include 68 other stores in seven states, with 14 of those in Oregon and Washington.

Rite Aid is preparing for another series of store closings, following a significant reduction after the company’s bankruptcy deposit in October 2023 – which reduced its number of stores by more than 2,300 to around 1,200 in 15 states.
The company plans to sell customer prescription files, stocks and other assets because it closes distribution centers and discharges stores. The stores will remain open for the moment, but the company does not buy new inventories, so the naked shelves are probably more common.
Rite Aid indicates that operations will continue for a few months for most of its stores. All locations will eventually close or be sold to a new owner.
Until then, customers will always be able to fill the prescriptions, get vaccinations and buy in stores or online.
In addition, Rite Aid obtained $ 1.94 billion in new funding to maintain operations during this period, ensuring that employees continue to receive wages and benefits.
