Ronaldo’s time with Manchester United is officially over

It comes after Ronaldo recently made a series of stunning claims about the Red Devils during a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

A statement from United read: “Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution over two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to achieve success on the pitch.”

Ronaldo’s former teammate Ferdinand, who works as a TV World Cup analyst, believes the arrangement is the best thing for all parties.

Speaking on BBC Sport, Ferdinand said: “I think both sides will be delighted now.

“I think he obviously did this interview with the mindset that he wanted out of the football club. He wasn’t happy. He made that very clear.

“I also think [manager] Erik ten Hag also got what he wanted. In this situation both parties are happy, move on, next chapter for Cristiano Ronaldo.”

When asked where Ronaldo could go next, Ferdinand added: “I don’t know, it depends on the motivation. Is it the Champions League? Money? Keep playing somewhere with a nice climate?

“There’s still a lot to find out about what happened behind the scenes, but I’m sure we’ll find out in due time.”

It also emerged that Ronaldo will not receive any compensation for the remaining months of his contract.
