Rio Ferdinand defended Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, following criticism from his former teammate Roy Keane on Friday evening.
Garnacho came out of the bench at halftime and helped his team to come from behind to beat Leicester 2-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
His team followed 1-0 when the Argentinian entered the match and he certainly had an impact, playing a role in the equalizer of Joshua Zirkzee before Harry Maguire marked a winner at the head of injury.
Keane praised Garnacho’s contribution after the match, but continued saying that he would not trust the 20 -year -old man to start regularly.
Speaking on Rio Presents, the former English international said: “ I don’t think his statistics (Garnacho) are incredible this season, but in terms of impact on the game and put the other team on the Rear foot, it is probably one of the only players who do it in our team.
“You look at him and say that his game is not 100%specific, but it can be developed. But there is no shortage of effort, there is no lack of energy.
Rio Ferdinand does not agree with the criticism of Roy Keane on Alejandro Garnacho Friday

Garnacho had an impact on the bench and helped the Red Devils return the game

Roy Keane was impressed but always said that he would not trust the winger to start the games
“He has a pair of B ****** who says he wants the ball, he will take the ball anywhere.
“He has this belief and this character who says that I should be here and I should play. “Give me the ball at all times”.
“And in the situation in which we now find ourselves where there are many players who move away from the ball when the team is not going well, it stands out as a painful form in this regard.”
“He reminds me of Nani. One of the frustrations is that it would get there (the ball) and would make the wrong decision where it would succeed and its execution would not be clean.
“But these players grow up with time. Comments like that when you say that he cannot trust … It’s a big comment for a young child.
“I understand that Roy might believe it, but when you look at alternatives … If there were many more options, I would understand it, but there is nothing else that offers what he does And it’s difficult to understand. “
