Nakatani previously won the WBO flyweight belt in 2020 and has since moved up in weight.
By doing so as an undefeated champion, it automatically became mandatory for a shot at the belt that was vacated by Kazuto Ioka earlier this year.
Moloney was named as his opponent and entered the fight with great confidence after twin brother Jason Moloney won the WBO bantamweight title of the world last week.
However, it was not to be for Andrew, despite a valiant effort.

The Aussie was finally floored in round 11 before being brutally finished with a knockout punch in the final round.
Ring footage shows how ruthless the knockout was.
This knocked Moloney unconscious, but luckily he was up and talking soon after.
Either way, he went to the hospital for post-fight precautionary checks.
Nakatani, 25, is now 25-0 (19 KOs) and will no doubt be a feared man in the super flyweight ranks.
