Ringo Bossenmeyer descends as a Tastin basketball coach after 25 seasons – Orange County Register

It is an excellent opportunity at the right time for Ringo Bossenmeyer.

Bossenmeyer has resigned from his post as basketball coach for boys by Tastin High to accept a position as assistant coach at the University of Chapman.

He led to Tastin for 25 seasons where his teams were 428-258. Including his six years of coach at Orange High, his record of basketball coaches in high school is 519-321.

Bossenmeyer led the Tillers to a championship in the southern CIF section in 2013. His Tastin teams won five championship championships and reached the playoffs in 23 of his 25 seasons.

This year’s tillers went 8-0 in the Empire League and finished 24-7 in total. They reached the quarter-finals of the CIF-SS 3AA division.

Bossenmeyer, 59, also resigns as sports director, in force at the end of this school year.

He will continue to teach physical education in Tastin beyond this school year. Bossenmeyer will have two teaching works in the morning. He said that his reduced teaching schedule would help him help take care of his parents who are 96 years old this year.

He is delighted to work with head coach of Chapman, Dan Krikorian, who has just finished his first seasonal coach in Chapman.

“This is the right opportunity, the right coach and the right university,” said Bossenmeyer.

Bossenmeyer was an assistant coach in Chapman for a season and assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton for two seasons between his tenures coach in Orange and Tastin.

He said he would miss the interaction with Tastin basketball players.

“As all the coaches say, it is the relationships with the players that you are most lacking in,” said Bossenmeyer. “As coach staff, we have underlined the development of the student-athlete on the development of the team. We may have excellent teams where we could have medium teams. And what was always the most was to transform these students’ students of quality young men on and off the field. ”

Tastin accepts the candidates of the Bossenmeyer successor. There will be no attached education position, so the next boys’ basketball coach will be a coach for at least one season.
