Richard Simmons is here to save lives!
Although the fitness guru may have retired from the limelight and a life in the spotlight, he continues to influence people’s lives in MAJOR ways. Mostly positive! The 75-year-old said TMZ Sunday that he talks to HUNDREDS of fans a day via email and phone because he sees so many “unhappy people” and wants to bring them “hope.” He told the outlet that after receiving an overwhelming response to his “Daily Richard” posts on social media, he noticed fans needed some brightness and positivity:
“That’s why I started making audio messages, there are so many unhappy people. I get up every morning and email people. I’ve sent 200 emails today so far…I want to give everyone hope.
In addition to the 200 emails received each day, he also makes between 15 and 20 phone calls, according to the media.

Richard posted an audio clip earlier this month that was the first time the public had heard his voice in YEARS. You can listen to it (below):
Fans were delighted with the post, sharing sweet messages in the comments:

“It’s wonderful to hear your voice again. We love you!”
“The world needs you more than ever.”
“We didn’t like you enough when you were here. Your unrepentant positivity is sorely needed.

Because there was a very positive response, he told the outlet that he now plans to publish video messages as well:
“I don’t know if a person can run out of tears, but I hope to call out to those people and give them something to find in their lives that is worth it.” That’s what I’m supposed to do: help people.
So sweet!
