In a statement published on the same day, the Newport Beach police department said that one of its officers arrested Geoff, a resident of Laguna Niguel, California, for an alleged traffic violation while he was driving his motorcycle on a highway.
“Shortly after being arrested, Stirling became uncomfortable and assaulted the officer,” said the press release. “During the violent altercation that followed, Stirling managed to withdraw the taser issued by the officer’s department of service belt and tried to deploy him several times against the officer. At that time, a shooting involving an officer occurred.”
