- Fans of “Daredevil” were crushed when Netflix canceled the show in 2018, but he now returns to Disney +.
- “Daredevil: Born again” is bloody and violent: proving that Marvel can change and adapt.
- The show has had faults, but it’s the best Marvel project for years.
“Daredevil: Born Again” begins with a deterrent wink of fans who waited seven years for the show to come back.
While lawyer Foggy Nelson remembers nostalgia guests in New York, his legal partner Karen Page replies: “This nostalgia for hell’s cuisine is pretty thin, you realize that, right?”
“No nostalgia. The reverence for the past, but hope for the future … Too much?” he said.
The ironic line can be on the nose (or horns), but it is a manifesto for the whole series.
“Daredevil: Born Again” has a veneration for the eponymous program of Netflix 2015 beloved by fans, which were crushed when it was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. But the symphony of violence when Bullseye attacks Josia’s bar in the first minutes clearly indicates that Disney wants to take the franchise to new heights, taking Risks and pushing the limits of what the Marvel cinematographic universe can be.

Yes, projects like “Werewolf by Night” and the mini-series “Echo” have grainy moments, but the fighters are actually weight in “Daredevil: Born Again”. They lead to bruises, judicial affairs and questions from their loved ones. They also allow the characters to grow, especially after a tragedy in the first episode (which will probably annoy fans).
It is not the more too empty family superheroks on which to marve is generally based.
Of course, Daredevil does not need violence to work as a character in the MCU, as his recent cameos prove in “Spider-Man: No Way Way Home” and “She-Hulk”.
But entering the fans by the skin of the neck with a combination of substance and action at high octane is a particularly intelligent decision after a series of offers from Marvel Terne, on large and small screens.
It seems that there is still a fight in Marvel, the studio just needs to understand what makes each project special and to look into it, as it does with “Daredevil: Born again”.
“Daredevil: Born again” is not perfect, but it’s the best Marvel project for years
That said, while the series shines when creating raw tension and the use of violence intelligently, the story seems fragile in places. This can be symptomatic of the creative overhaul that took place in June 2023. Marvel Television returned to the drawing board after filming several episodes of “Born Again” and started with a new showrunner and writers in October.
For example, Muse – an artistic serial killer who travels the streets in search of victims – is a new exciting enemy for Daredevil, as something “Seven” by David Fincher or “Luther” of the BBC. But his scenario is cut disappointing.
There are rough visuals in a fight improved by the CGI, which is strange given some of the impressive choreographed cascades later in the series. And a few history beats are particularly precipitated, including Murdock’s relationship with the psychiatrist Heather Glenn, who materializes almost instantly without feeling particularly won.

There is a lot of time spent exploring the determining dilemma of the hero (his duty as Daredevil or his life and his career as Matt Murdock), but it takes much more time than expected to reach the meat of the season: Kingpin’s plan to ban New York superheroes.
But there are still a lot for “Daredevil” fans hungry to undo. The way Wilson Fisk armed the general public will undoubtedly draw comparisons from the real world, but Vincent Onofrio’s quietly frightening performance never jumps out the parody shark. Kingpin remains as terrifying as ever, because he targets the mayor’s office, especially in the most obscure moment of the show.
In the end, the series as a whole, in particular the way in which Daredevil and Kingpin develop as characters, proves to be an important point. It is possible for Marvel to add depth to its main characters alongside Excellent Combat Choreography Coast.
Adding an enticing cliffhanger before season two, and “Born again” is the best MCU project in recent years, Flaws and everything.
To be frank as Billy Clubs of Daredevil, Marvel has found a way to give the public the hero they know and love, while making him exist in the same universe as the Avengers.
“Hope for the future”, indeed.
