Instantly recognizable when his music hits, The Rock’s return immediately sent fans into a frenzy ahead of Wrestlemania 40.
Despite the building shaking, the most electrifying man in sports entertainment faced backlash upon his return.
When he entered the ring after Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble and got past American Nightmare to face Roman Reigns, fans were left confused and frustrated.
It looked like his return to action would see him face his family for the main event of Wrestlemania 40, while Rhodes would retire.
But WWE moved away from that direction as Cody opted to run with Reigns instead and The Rock aligned himself with The Bloodline.

The duo would emerge victorious on one of WWE’s biggest shows.
The Rock was awarded the People’s Championship while preparing for his return to the ring.
And it looks like that decision will have repercussions when Wrestlemania 41 arrives.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter, the plan is to have Rhodes and The Rock face off at Wrestlemania 41, in a match that could pit the WWE Championship against the People’s Championship.
Meltzer said: “Those at WWE have noted that there is no guarantee that Rhodes will be champion at that point, and that’s where the People’s Belt comes in. But so much can change over the course of a year.”
The Rock’s initial decision sparked one of the most violent and exciting feuds in recent history in the build-up to the company’s biggest show.
The Rock has taken to social media almost weekly in explosive, expletive-laden rants about The American Nightmare, taking shots at his mother in the process.
He even made sure to mention the late, great Dusty Rhodes as he took every verbal jab he could.
This culminated in a tag team match between The Rock and Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on the first night of Wrestlemania 40, which saw the Bloodline emerge victorious.
The Rock and Cody Rhodes are currently scheduled to face off in a singles match at Wrestlemania 41.
Despite losing on night one, Cody would go on to be victorious on night two and capture the WWE Title.
The following night on Raw, The Rock confronted the new champion and told him to never break his heart again before seemingly returning a gift Cody had given the People’s Champion.
Since then, The Rock has turned his attention to Hollywood as he prepares to star as Mark Kerr in “The Smashing Machine.”
But it looks like fans won’t be disappointed as they eagerly await the moment when Rhodes and The Rock meet one-on-one in the middle of the ring.
