Embattled boxing superstar Ryan Garcia has been referred to by some on social media as the “Kanye West of boxing” in recent months and the comparison certainly has merit.

Garcia, who will face WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney for his title on April 20 in a highly anticipated grudge match in New York, has made headlines for his alarming activity on social media and in interviews .

Earlier this week, Garcia posted that Australian porn star Savannah Bond had accepted his marriage proposal after he filed for divorce from his wife Andrea Celina in January, after she gave birth to their second child.

He raised concerns on March 3 when a disturbing video claiming Garcia died after having his “throat slit” was shared on his social media accounts, marking the first in a series of posts troubling effects of the boxer over the next 72 hours.

Garcia also claimed that he was raped by a family member when he was two years old, that he had photographic evidence of the existence of aliens, and that he had witnessed child rape after being tied up in the woods by “the elites”.

He then continued his bizarre rant by claiming an earthquake was about to “destroy” Hollywood and Las Vegas, while calling X chief Elon Musk the “Antichrist.”

Kanye West, who has also partnered with a sometimes scantily clad Australian model, has become known for his controversial remarks and often unhinged behavior in recent years.

The rapper said he “likes” and “loves” Hitler, defended Nazis and denied the Holocaust during an appearance on Alex Jones’ Infowars podcast in 2022 that many viewers described as depression mental live on air.

Wearing a cloth mask covering his entire face, West said, “I see good things in Hilter…every human being has something of value that he contributed, especially Hitler.”

He later said that the Germans “had a very good leader at one time” and denied that Hitler had ordered the deaths of six million Jews.

“He did not kill six million Jews. It’s just factually incorrect,” West said in what were, to some extent, his most anti-Semitic remarks to date.

“I’m not trying to be shocking. I like Hitler. The Holocaust is not what happened…Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities,” he said.

Even Jones, no stranger to controversy, seemed visibly uncomfortable at times throughout the three-hour broadcast.

During a recent interview, Garcia revealed that he asked the American rapper to join him when he came out to the ring for his fight with Haney – however, the rapper refused due to remarks the boxer made to About Sean Love Combs (also known as P. Diddy).

Then on Monday, the boxer did a 180 and announced that West would be leaving with him for the Haney fight at the Barclays Center in New York. Whether that happens or not, no one knows.

Garcia heads into April 20 with a 24-1 record and 20 KOs, with his only loss coming against Gervonta Davis in April 2023. He has since rebounded with a victory over Oscar Duarte in December.

Meanwhile, Haney is undefeated, with 31 wins and 15 knockouts. He is coming off two straight wins over George Kambosos Jr, followed by victories over Vasiliy Lomachenko and Regis Prograis.
