Revealed: The Scientist Who Raised Harrison Butker! Controversial Chiefs kicker’s mother is an accomplished physicist – but son says women should be housewives

The mother of controversial Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is an accomplished and decorated scientist, DailyMail.com can reveal.

This comes after the Super Bowl winner controversially said a woman’s life only “really” begins when she gets married and has children.

But, ironically, his own mother is Elizabeth Keller Butker, a physicist working at Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Elizabeth holds several academic honors, including a degree in chemistry from Smith College, a private liberal arts college for women in Massachusetts.

The mother of two went on to earn her master’s degree in medical physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology before joining Emory in 1988, where she specialized in brachytherapy and Gamma Knife medical physics care.

The revelation that Elizabeth is highly accomplished in the medical field follows her son’s sexist remarks during a commencement speech at Benedictine College last week.

I think it’s you women who have heard the most evil lies,” he said, before suggesting that female graduates were “the most excited” about getting married and having children, rather than pursuing a career.

“I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly began when she began to live her vocation as a wife and mother,” he continued.

“Isabelle’s dream of a career may not have come true. But if you ask her today if she has any regrets about her decision, she will burst out laughing without hesitation and say “hell no”.

The irony that Harrison was raised by an accomplished career woman, whom he did not mention in his speech, was not lost on fans.

“Has his life really begun?” She didn’t delve into the housewife vocation that women are called to do like her son said,” one person joked on X.

“I wonder what his mother thought of his speech?” » another intervened.

The 2017 seventh-round pick out of Georgia Tech has become one of the NFL’s best kickers, breaking the Chiefs’ franchise record with a 62-yard field goal in 2022 and winning three Super Bowl rings.

Although the Chiefs have not yet responded to his remarks, an NFL spokesperson said Harrison’s views “are not those of the NFL as an organization.”
