- Conor Nash has transmitted a ban on four games to hit Gryan Mirs
- Nash sent an SMS to Mirs after the incident
Conor Nash must serve a ban on four games for the strike of Gryan Mirs from Geelong after Hawthorn tried without success to demarize his sentence in the AFL court.
A “ truly remorse and excuses ” did not dispute the gravity or impact of the incident during the hearing on Wednesday evening, but pleaded for a suspension of three games.
This means that the midfielder will miss Hawthorn’s matches against West Coast, Richmond, Melbourne and Gold Coast.
Nash had been sent directly to the court after collecting Mirs with a high arm and balanced in the victory of seven points of the Cats on Easter Monday.
Mirs was replaced immediately and will at least miss the shock of Sunday with Carlton at the MCG after entering the 12 -day concussion protocols.
The incident was assessed as reckless driving, serious impact and high contact.

Hawthorn argued that the incident justified only three weeks suspension since Nash had pleaded guilty as soon as possible.
The club also indicated that Nash had not used his fist to create an excessive force against Mirs and that he had an “ a spotless court ” in the same vein as the AFL Great and his colleague Irishman Jim Styles.
But the court maintained, after 40 minutes of deliberation, that Nash had acted with severe force and a significant degree of negligence.
The president of the court Jeff Gleeson KC added that Nash was aware of Mirs, since he had his arm on the back of the opposition player.
“We have difficulty understanding how Mr. Nash has so bad here,” said Gleeson.
“We accept that he did not intend to hit Mirs on the head, but he should have known that an energetic swing of an arm at the height of the head could well cause such a strike.”
Nash had presented to the court an SMS he sent in Mirs in the days that followed the match.
“First of all, I just want to check how you stopped today. Let’s not hope that I can come back to the right track soon, ” said the message.

“I also reach out to let you know that there was really no malice at this time.
“I tried to play the ball and I hurt myself.
“Yes, I’m trying to play the game with a physical presence, but not in this spirit and I just want you to know.
“Again, very sorry for what happened and the whole circus around it.”
The AFL argued that Nash justified a four -week ban because it had a duty of diligence towards a “vulnerable” mirs, and that the contact was established at the head of the geelong player.
Mirs seemed to be a concussion before hitting the ground and paraded from the field with the help of medical staff.
The parallels were fired with Fremantle Patrick Voss player and Hawthorn Jack Scrimshaw’s teammate, the respective three -game suspensions were transmitted earlier in the season.
But the AFL argued that business was not similar, since there was no immediate concern for concussion to the actors of the victim during incidents.
Richmond Nick Vlastuin player underwent a broken nose after being struck by Voss, and Essendon defender Jordan Ridley played the rest of the second quarter after his incident with Scrimshaw.
Ridley was finally replaced by the match at halftime with a concussion.
