The Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali inadvertently became a key figure in the last phase of the Italian online investigation on illegal online bets, but Mail Sport understands that he is not faced with another punishment.

The reports of Corriere Della will be in Italy claim that 12 other players, including several current and former stars of Serie A, have been appointed in a new investigation by the Milan prosecutor’s office – with investigators who would have been led by Tonali’s phone analysis.

The probe examines an alleged Paris activity between December 2021 and October 2023, but above all, nothing at this stage, the individuals involved football matches.

Tonali and his Italian international colleague Nicolo Fagioli both received prohibitions in 2024 for violations from Paris, including betting on football. The 10 -month ban on Tonali midfielder ended at the end of August and he has since made 45 senior appearances for Newcastle and Italy.

But this last development seems to focus rather on the use of illegal platforms for online poker and casino games.

Sources in Italy say that the names of the latest suspects – notably the duo of Juventus Weston McKennie and Mattia Perin, Leadro Paredes de Roma, Nicolo Zaniolo de Fiorentina and Alessandro Florenzi from Milan – have emerged as information obtained during interviews with Tonali and Fagioli and thanks to the analysis of their mobile devices.

Tonali, it is understood, is not reinveity. Newcastle would not be concerned that the midfielder is struck with new sanctions.

The analysis by the Italian Tonali telephone authorities is understood that the investigators led the investigators to the other players now under control, making the star of the Magpies an involuntary link in the expansion investigation, rather than a new target itself.

Other investigations would have been investigated Raoul Bellanova d’Atalanta, Samuele Ricci de Torino, Matteo Cancellieri de Parma, former striker Cristian Buonauto, Leeds United Firior Firpo and tennis player Matteo Gignant.

Until now, there has been no indication of reprehensible acts linked to football betting between this new group of individuals. If confirmed, the repercussions would probably be minimal: the criminal sanction for the use of unauthorized Paris platforms is a fine of € 250.

However, the Italian Football Federation could still choose to open a new sports investigation.
