A bizarre clause has reportedly been inserted into Victor Osimhen’s loan deal at Galatasaray – which could see him leave in January.

The Napoli forward landed in Istanbul in the early hours of Tuesday morning and is expected to undergo medical tests ahead of the surprise transfer.

The Chelsea-bound forward was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window, with a move to the Premier League a ‘dream’, but the Blues were unable to complete the deal.

Galatasaray then confirmed on Monday evening that they were in talks with the Italian giants over the acquisition of Osimhen.

The Nigeria international will sign a one-year loan deal with the Turkish giants but reports now claim a unique clause is being inserted into his contract.

According to Turkish media outlet A Spor, Osimhen has requested a break clause in his contract that applies to a total of 10 specific clubs.

If one of the unnamed teams submits an offer in January, he will then be allowed to leave.

The outlet also claims that Osimhen has asked for his release clause to be reduced from £109million to £63million as he looks to secure a permanent transfer.

Osimhen’s move to Turkey comes on the same day he was left out of Napoli’s squad list for the 2024-25 campaign due to his relationship with the club being “broken”.

They completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku for £38million from Chelsea earlier in the week, with the Belgian striker expected to lead the line for Antonio Conte’s side going forward.

Lukaku was seen as Osimhen’s replacement as the Italian side sought a solution to the Nigerian’s problems at the club before securing his loan move.

Osimhen scored 26 league goals in 2022-23 as Napoli won their first title in 33 years, and he scored 15 last season but it proved to be a disastrous campaign for the club.

They finished in 10th place, missing out on Europe altogether, and Osimhen will not be part of their revival bid this season.
