What Mohamed Salah said to Jurgen Klopp during their violent touchline row last weekend has been revealed, according to a professional lip reader.

Liverpool’s title quest took another blow on Saturday when they were held to a point by West Ham, drawing 2-2 despite having a lead in the match and needing a win to maintain their weak title hopes.

Their problems were highlighted at the London Stadium when Klopp and Salah could be seen visibly angry with each other before the Egyptian was introduced as a substitute, with Darwin Nunez having to step in and separate the two centerpieces from Liverpool’s last decade.

The footage indicated the flashpoint began after a disagreement over the way Salah shook his manager’s hand before he entered the pitch.

According to Sportbible via lip reader John Cassidy, Salah said: “There’s nothing I can do about it, nothing.”

Cassidy goes on to claim that while Klopp’s response was clouded, he indicated that Salah was not ready as quickly as he would have liked.

The Reds boss then approached and waved Salah with a response which, again, could not be determined.

It was at this point that the winger lost his cool and reportedly responded: “I will, I’ll get a red card, after seven years, after seven years of service, after seven years!”

Darwin Nunez was then forced to remove his teammate before the situation escalated further.

After the incident, Salah ignored his manager as he took to the pitch at full-time, the 31-year-old then telling reporters “If I speak there will be fire” as he walked through the mixed zone.

This superb altercation gave rise to doubts about his future at the club. Salah’s current contract expires in 2025, which may have motivated the Reds to cash in on the aging striker this summer.

However, according to The Athletic, the Reds are confident Salah will stay, despite the aforementioned contract situation and continued interest from Saudi Arabia.

Salah reportedly gave “no indication of wanting to leave”, while there was “no suggestion of internal concern” following his outburst towards Klopp.

He is Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 24 goals in 41 matches, including 17 in the Premier League. Salah has been a driving force in their quest for success in four competitions this season.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup in Klopp’s final season, but their Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League hopes have been dashed by a dip in form in recent weeks.

Salah’s future will be one of the major decisions facing Arne Slot, with the Feyenoord boss set to be named Liverpool’s new manager.

Salah and Klopp were not on speaking terms by the time the final whistle blew at the London Stadium.

Slot has been targeted to succeed Klopp following an extensive search for a successor led by Michael Edwards, CEO of football at owners Fenway Sports Group.

He will join a new structure led by Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes.

Salah is among the stars who will enter the final year of their contract next season, alongside captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
