A decade after Adam GODES interpreted his emblematic dance of the native war, it was revealed how the Swans champion of Sydney feels to reconnect with the game that made him famous.

The most decorated indigenous player of the code has moved away from the game since 2015, after the prolonged saga of the hoots that lasted three seasons.

The double medalist of Brownlow also made the offers of being inducted into the temple of the renowned Australian football NSW and the AFL renowned temple.

While Sir Doug Nicholls approaches, the AFL made efforts to recover bodes in the game – but without a lot of luck.

“No, he is not interested at the moment,” revealed the member of the board of directors of Swans, Michael O’Loughlin, revealed in News Corp.

“He’s fine. He lives his best life. We are missing, we love it and I hope that at some point, we can see it again.

“He loved the game and the game dropped him and dropped a lot of people.

“He should have released a hero and that he was not a real indictment about us.”

Goods became a symbol of indigenous rights after defending implacable crowd abuses in 2013.

He had held near the touchline in the last two minutes of the match between Sydney and Collingwood when he heard someone in the crowd shouting above the fence: “GODES, you are a monkey”.

The culprit was a 13 -year -old girl. She was escorted from the ground by security guards after the swans star reported it.

A few days later, the boss of Magpies Eddie McGuire suggested that the promoters of a King Kong musical in Melbourne ask the football star to promote the show.

In 2015, he celebrated a goal against Carlton with a war cry on the theme of Aboriginal people who saw the spectators target it strongly.

That year, he refused to participate in a great motorcycle final for retired players and since then refused the invitations to AFL events – even refusing an invitation to be enthroned at the Australian Football Football Temple in 2021.

AFL president Richard Goyder admitted that the AFL should have done better by Goods after rejected the 2021 invitation.

“Adam’s treatment in recent years at AFL level has led him to football,” said Goyder at the time.

“The AFL and our game did not do enough to stand with him at the time and call him.

“The unreserved apologies that the game provided to him in 2019 were too late, but, on behalf of our commission and the AFL, I apologize again without reservation for our failures during this period.

“The failure to call racism and not to defend Adam dropped all the aboriginal and island players of the Torres Strait, past and present.

“We hope there will be time in the future where Adam will want to be connected to the game.”

GODES returned to SCG in May 2022 for the reunion of the first 10-year-old Swans, taking a floor at halftime during the confrontation of the Swans with the Gold Coast.
