Anumula Revanth Reddy was selected as the new Telangana chief minister, the secretary general of the Congress KC Venugopal announced on Tuesday.
“The Honorable President of the Congress (Mallikarjun Kharge) decided to go with Revanth Reddy, our president of the CCP, as a new legislative party of the CLP of Telangana,” said Venugopal.
The head of the Congress also declared that Revanth Reddy was a dynamic leader who had campaigned in the elections of the Telangana Assembly in 2023 with other senior officials.

The decision to appoint Reddy as a new Telangana chief minister was taken at a meeting attended by the president of the congress, Kharge, the leader of the Rahul Gandhi party, secretary general of the (Organization) KC Venugopal, Apart from leaders.
DK Shivakumar also attended DK Shivakumar, which apparently transmitted to the central management that a majority of newly elected legislators preferred Revanth Reddy to others.
According to reports, 42 of the 64 Congress deputies supported Revanth Reddy for the post of the next CM of Telangana.
Who is Revanth Reddy, Telangana’s new CM?
Reddy was born on November 8, 1969 in the village of Kondareddypalli from the Nagarkurnool district.
The 54 -year -old politician joined the congress party in 2017 and was appointed head of the TPCC in 2021.
He began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the RSS student wing. In 2007, Reddy was elected member of the Legislative Council (MLC) as an independent candidate.
Reddy is a deputy for Lok Sabha and a double deputy. In 2009, he represented the Andhra Pradesh assembly, later in the Telangana Assembly in 2014.
He was also a member of the Telugu Party of the AUM (TDP) and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh assembly in the Kodangal district in 2009. However, he left the party after his involvement in an alleged Sudoyer scandal.

In the polls of the recently completed Telangana Assembly, the Congress beat K Chandrasekhar Rao Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) by winning 64 seats. The BRS dragged with 38 seats, while the BJP obtained eight seats.
