Retailleau accused of racism by the left – RT in French

By establishing a link between immigration and the riots, the president of the senatorial group Les Républicains Bruno Retailleau has drawn the wrath of the left.
“For the second, the third generation [d’immigrés], there is a kind of regression towards ethnic origins ”: on the set of France Info this July 5, Bruno Retailleau, senator Les Républicains de la Vendée, wanted to contradict the Minister of the Interior. Gérald Darmanin had indeed estimated on July 3, in the hemicycle of the National Assembly, that the urban riots raised the question of “young delinquents, not foreigners”.
The words of Bruno Retailleau speaking of “regression towards ethnic origins” are an absolute shame. This is racism pure and simple. Remember, this is not an opinion, it’s a crime. The LR party should keep the same initials but replace republicans with racists.

The words of Bruno Retailleau did not fail to cringe on the left. LFI deputy Aymeric Caron thus denounced remarks which he considers “deeply racist” when his counterpart Thomas Portes evoked “pure and simple racism”.
The left unanimously denounces the words of the senator
The controversy even overflowed to the Ile-de-France Regional Council where the Insoumise Julie Garnier spoke of “racist and xenophobic remarks” by attacking the majority elected LR Othman Nasrou whom she accused of having supported Senator Retailleau.
Communist MP Elsa Faucillon denounces a “racialist” thesis and a right that “slips a little more every day”.
Even the majority picked up the senator on the rebound. The Renaissance deputy for Hauts-de-Seine Maud Bergeron described Brunot Retailleau as “VRP of the far right”. Finally, LFI deputy Danièle Obono called on the “truly republican right” to “dissociate” from these remarks.
Retailleau persists, the right is discreet
Right-wing elected officials did not rush to defend the LR leader in the upper house of Parliament. MEP Nadine Morano nevertheless also established a link between the riots and immigration. The president of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse, very offensive against the thugs, did not make a link with immigration but suggested to “rotten the holidays” of the thugs with “a minimum penalty of one minimum year in prison”.
No offense to the extreme left, follower of national deconstruction, France has been for 15 centuries a promise of going beyond the origins of each towards a nation that unites. We are witnessing a refusal of this promise among many young people from immigrant backgrounds… https://t.co/ABh6ewfmxc

Lacking support in his own camp, Bruno Retailleau took care of his own defense by persisting and responding directly to LFI deputy Aymeric Caron on social networks.
The LR right is currently in a delicate political situation, stuck between Emmanuel Macron and the National Rally. The President of the Republic declared on July 4 that he wanted the families of offenders to be financially sanctioned. A measure traditionally advocated by the right.
