I am deeply concerned about the proposed Medicaid cups which would devastate disabled people, public schools who support them and the countless disabled adults and their families who count on these services for daily care, independence and dignity.
My son, Jacob, A Trisomy 9, similar to Down syndrome. Thanks to the law on the education of people with disabilities (IDEA), it was included in public education, the teaching of empathy and compassion towards its peers. Now, as an adult, it depends on Medi-Cal for essential services such as the regional system of the center and home support services.
The Trump / Musk administration openly disrespected people with Donald Trump mocking a disabled journalist at Elon Musk using the word R as an insult. Their plan for the 2025 project would dismantle the Ministry of Education and finance special education.
We must demand that legislators protect Medicaid and the rights of people with disabilities. Jacob and millions like him deserve better.

The assembly of the Rick Zbur state, D-Los Angeles, introduced AB 1333, which makes much more difficult for Californians to protect themselves from personal and real estate crimes.
The wording of this bill puts the home on the owner to determine the threat and act within the limits of the law. Ridiculous. If you are a single and hardworking mother living in poverty, how do you protect your family and these hard goods?
The only law which should apply is the doctrine of the castle, the legal right of a person to defend himself against an intruder in his house or other goods, even if the use of a deadly force was required. According to this legal theory, the owner is not required to withdraw, but can bear his land to defend himself, his house or his property.

Re: “Trump, Vance Berce Zelenskyy” (page A1, March 1).
It was disgusting to see the vice-president vance acting the intimidator and behaving so arrogant with President Zelenskyy, showing no respect for the horrors that this country was confronted. Russia began this war.
Shame came from the scandalous behavior of our government representatives, not from Zelenskyy. It seemed to have been closed in a corner for a fight.
Zelenskyy was there to conclude an agreement and sign on some of Ukraine’s mineral rights in the United States. Why should he thank us? It was going to be a contract. We help them, they help us. Since when has someone thank another before everything is signed, sealed and delivered?
These minerals would have been a precious asset and could have helped the United States enormously. The oval office should not be a place for arrogance, intimidation and confrontation, but rather tact, decency, respect, common sense and sincerity.

Re: “The reduction of American spending, the workforce is not new” (February 20).
Mark Blanchard compared the executive orders of Presidents Clinton and Obama to reduce the federal workforce to the decrees of President Trump.
Clinton and Obama’s decrees have implemented a process of reducing federal workforce. Orders have ensured transparency, set clear objectives, created a process to determine which agency would be responsible for the implementation of layoffs, determined which positions should be eliminated and explained how the work carried out by the positions to be eliminated would be reassigned.
Trump’s order is simply, pack and go out.
