The Patriots interviewed Josh McDaniels on Tuesday. Not surprisingly, they are expected to hire McDaniels as offensive coordinator, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.
McDaniels returns to familiar work. He previously served in that role from 2006 to 2008 before becoming head coach of the Broncos and from 2012 to 2021 before taking over as head coach of the Raiders.
McDaniels was on Bill Belichick’s coaching staff in New England for all eight seasons Mike Vrabel played there. McDaniels won six Super Bowls with the Patriots.
McDaniels will be tasked with developing Drake Maye, a 2024 first-round pick.
New England also interviewed Vikings assistant Grant Udinski, former Bears interim coach Thomas Brown and Chargers passing game coordinator Marcus Brady.
