Rep. Virginia Foxx ‘fine’ after falling down US Capitol stairs

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) revealed she was “doing great” after falling down the grand staircase at the U.S. Capitol.

In a job on X, Foxx thanked people for their prayers and revealed that she suffered “a few little cuts” after falling down the stairs.

“Thank you everyone for your prayers – just a few small cuts and I’m doing great,” Foxx wrote. “I’m a mountain woman and we’re tougher than a $2 steak.”

Foxx’s post comes after it was reported that she fell down the grand staircase on the Republican side of the U.S. Capitol chamber, according to Fox News.

The 81-year-old congresswoman was reportedly bleeding and “was seen being treated by Capitol medical staff,” according to the media outlet.

A spokesperson for Foxx said Policy that Foxx had “slipped while going down the marble staircase outside the House chamber,” adding that after her fall, Foxx “went alone to the attending physician’s office to seek treatment for some cuts individual”.

“(She) slipped while descending the marble staircase outside the House chamber, after going to speak to her family in the gallery. After being helped to her feet and examined by medical staff, she went alone to the GP’s office to seek treatment for a few individual cuts. Everything appears to be fine,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

In response to reports of Foxx’s fall, lawmakers such as Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) wrote that they were praying for a “speedy recovery” for the congresswoman.

“We are praying for @virginiafoxx in hopes of a speedy recovery,” Mace wrote in a message. job on X.

“Congressional Football Team Middle Linebacker @virginiafoxx,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) wrote in a message.
