“Doing an episode about death and facing my own mortality made me say, ‘Oh my God, I’m not ready to go yet,’” he said. Vanity Fair in November 2022.” And then you start talking about kids and family and saying, “Oh my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up and I keep putting another movie on top of another movie. “Before you know it, they’re 18 and they’ve left the house, and I missed the window.”

Chris added that this realization “really sparked something in me that made me want to take some time off.”
