Reed Sheppard made his NBA debut Friday night at Summer League in Las Vegas, and it was impressive.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star finished with 23 points (9-of-17 shooting and 4-of-6 from 3-point range), five assists, four rebounds, three blocks and a steal as the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 99-80.
To make his debut even better, Sheppard did it at the expense of former Tennessee star Dalton Knecht, including this play in which the former Cat made the Vol look like a fool.
He has a bright future ahead of him. He has already placed himself in the running for the NBA Summer League MVP award, a title no former Wildcat has won since John Wall in 2010.
Sheppard and the Rockets will return to action Sunday against the Washington Wizards at 6 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will provide television coverage.
