The Boston Red Soxs have a new first everyday basic player.
Boston placed the first goal player Triston Casas on the wounded list with a break in the left patellar tendon. Abraham Toro was recalled to replace him on the list of 26 men. Brennan Bernardino was also reinstated from the mourning list, Luis Guerrero being optionized in Triple-A Worcester to make room.
Casas was injured in Friday evening’s victory over the Minnesota twins at Fenway Park, having to be stretched out of the field. The manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, did not have concrete updates after the game, but called him “significant” in his media availability.
Toro, 28, signed a minor league contract with the organization at the end of the offseason. The Red Sox became familiar with his game because of his experience in the American League and watched him prosper in the spring up to .310 / .356 / .595 Slash Line, four doubles and two circuits through 42 plaques appearances in 21 games in total.
Toro makes sense because of the way he is able to complete the sudden starter Romy Gonzalez, because he is a switching striker with years of experience with the Astros of Houston, the Seattle Mariners and Oakland athletics. He will carry the n ° 29.

The Red Sox did not have to open a place on the active list, allowing them to select the veteran without making other movements. Casas will probably be moved from the 10 -day injured list on the list of 60 days injured.
