Red Lobster lists at least 6 Orlando-area restaurants as ‘temporarily closed’ – Orlando Sentinel

At least six Central Florida Red Lobster restaurants were listed as “temporarily closed” Monday on the Orlando-based seafood chain’s website, the latest blow to a financially troubled company reportedly considering declaring bankruptcy.

Affected restaurants included three in Orlando at 3552 E. Colonial Drive, 7373 W. Colonial Drive and 8003 Golden Sky Lane; in Altamonte Springs at 340 State Road 436; in Sanford at 20 Towne Center Circle; and Kissimmee at 4010 W. Vine Street.

Other branches of the chain in the Orlando metro area appeared to be open as usual, according to the website.

Other cities across the country have also reported similar closures. FOX 61 in Hartford, Connecticut, reported that 80 locations in at least 27 states were on the list. Red Lobster has around 650 restaurants in total.

A company spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Red Lobster has been struggling financially for years. The company’s main investor, Thai Union, severed ties with the chain earlier this year and said it would seek a buyer.

In April, Bloomberg cited sources saying the company could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, allowing it to continue operations while it restructures its debt.
