Either you want to be a Pittsburgh steeler, or you don’t.
When the Steelers Legend Cam Heyward pronounced these words Last month concerning the quarter-Arrière-Agent Aaron Rodgers, they resonated with the fans of the Steelers. The elite franchise rightly, owners of six Lombardi trophies, East Too proud to begging. Or at least it should be. For weeks, the atmosphere is that the Steelers are sufficiently desperate to wait (and wait … and wait) that Rodgers decides if he wants to be Steeler.
Rodgers finally explained the reason for its delayed schedule on Thursday. He referred several times during an unexpected appearance on his sure space ESPN / Bully Pulpit to a personal problem involving someone in his inner circle. For any reason, he had kept this fact near the vest before Thursday. His deliberate silence created the impression that he did not want to be Steeler, at least not before he knows that he did not have better options. And this perception that Rodgers made it possible to exhaust the fans of the Steelers.
After Thursday, they are even more extinct.
It is difficult to put a lot of stock in the Twitter polls. However, there are two of us now asking the question (ideally for Steelers fans only) to find out if they want Rodgers to join the team. One came on March 25, four days after spending six hours in Pittsburgh. The other was published on Friday, one day after finally dropping one or two facts in the void he had created.
The first time, with 11,286 answers, 55.9% said no. The second time – after setting scores and broadcast grievances and beaten a long -named dead horse (we will call it cocovid) – 11,854 responded. And 70.3% said no.
Despite the inherent defects of all publicly available survey (especially those that land on social powers), they are also apple apples as possible. Same question. Same platform. Same group of potential respondents. On March 25, 55.9% said no to Rodgers. Less than a month later, the number increased to 70.3%.
Steelers should take into account. I had already argued that Steelers fans should kiss rodgersBecause it is much better than any other option they have. I have now Make an 180. Although it is better than Mason Rudolph or Skylar Thompson or who they could land, Rodgers is no longer good enough to make the worries. And there will be hassles.
Although I have long argued that the quarter -franchise should not be informed “you work right here”, Rodgers is constantly present as a guy who wants to manage the place. When he exploded the jets on Thursday for not having played a several hour match with him before saying that they wanted to move on, he seemed surprised that the new diet did not want to choose the beautiful spirit of a 20 -year -old veteran that they did not want in the team.
He pulled the same shit when he sparked a passive-aggressive fight with the packer coach Matt Lafleur on “The Audible Thing”. Lafleur’s offensive gave a quarter-rear limited flexibility to change the part that was called in the group. Rodgers was mystified that Lafleur would not give an experienced (and brilliant) quarter-arre permission to do what he wanted. And Rodgers made it a public thing, until Lafleur realizes that the best way to get along with a delicate genius would be to follow his wishes.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin might think he can control the rodgers. If someone can, it’s Tomlin. The concern should be that nobody can, and to wait for Rodgers and announce Rodgers and let Rodgers be rodgers is not what the Steelers do. No matter how desperate they are to win an eliminatory match for the first time since the 2016 season.
We have heard many steelers fans who prefer to suffer from a losing season with Rudolph than any season with Rodgers. We suspect that some members of the organization, costs of the year Russell Wilson, may not want to face another aging quarter who will remove the air from the building.
Will Steelers listen to their customers? At a minimum, they should do their own survey and / or competition discussion groups to take the temperature of the fans base. If their discoveries take care of ours, they should clearly indicate that Rodgers will not wear black and gold in 2025. Or never.
