The country legend recently opened up about the challenges she’s faced regarding her appearance and why she’s embracing the skin she’s in at 69.

“I was pale, I had a lot of freckles and frizzy hair,” Reba told E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview. “And my friends had long, straight, round black curls. Another friend could tan easily, so I’d lie down with her and she’d turn brown as a cookie – and I’d get blisters.”

Instead of trying to be like everyone else, she realized that her differences were what made her special.

“I finally understood: I’m not supposed to be like them, I’m just me,” she explained. “It took me a long time to accept it and realize it.”
