Reagan’s faith helped him defeat communism, which once again threatens America

Oscar-winning actor, conservative activist and biopic star Reagan Jon Voight says President Ronald Reagan’s faith equipped him to defeat communism, which once again threatens America.

Voight told The Christian Post that Reagan’s approach to dealing with communism was rooted in his unwavering faith, which was instilled in him as a young child by his mother, Nelle, and his childhood pastor.

“What he had was basically his mother’s words when he was a child: to stay in touch with God and believe in the principles of our foundation. That’s what served him throughout his life, what allowed him to distinguish right from wrong,” he added. Ray Donovan said the star.

The veteran actor, who plays former KGB agent Viktor Petrovich in the 2024 film Reaganalso warned that the menacing ideology of communism is now infiltrating the United States.

“The Russian people suffered from that situation, and today we are under attack from those same values,” Voight said. “Ronald Reagan helped them survive. He eliminated the Soviet Union, he eliminated communism in this country. What a blessing to these people.”

“They were so depressed and so hurt by this system, and he gave them hope and a new life,” said the Midnight Cowboy “But now we are burdened by this, we are attacked in one way or another by what was the KGB agenda,” the star continued.

“This phenomenon has taken root in our country, and we need to stand up and get back to the principles that are right for us. Maybe that’s what Ronald Reagan is reminding us of,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Voight said, “I was raised Catholic, but I kind of drifted away from it and made some really bad mistakes myself. And then I had an awakening: I know that God is real and that our whole life only has meaning in relationship to God.”

“I’ve been very fortunate to have had that understanding in my life – I’ve had a long career because of it,” said the Anaconda star added.

“As Christians, we have the great guidance of Jesus and His help from above. It’s all real and it’s what gives us hope to become ourselves,” Voight said. “Our souls are pieces of God, pure God in each of our souls. Once we stand up to that and identify ourselves as such, our lives change.”

In addition to Voight, Reagan also stars Dennis Quaid as Ronald Reagan, Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, David Henrie as young Reagan and Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner.
