Orchard Park, NY — Greatness was recognized after the Buffalo Bills’ 27-25 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round.
After Josh Allen finished the game by kneeling, the Bills quarterback walked toward Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. As the two embraced, the quarterbacks could be seen exchanging messages. Nothing was caught on camera, but Jackson shared what he said to the Bills quarterback after the win.
Jackson’s message?
Go win.
“Great players recognize greatness,” Jackson told the media after the Ravens’ loss. “We both recognized each other, you know? But I told him, “Dude, go get something, go win something, man.” MVP, Super Bowl, do something. I want him to succeed.
Jackson was as good as advertised against the Bills on Sunday night. The two-time MVP completed 72 percent of his passes (18 of 25) for 254 yards and two touchdowns while adding 39 yards on the ground on six carries. Jackson was able to move the ball up and down the field against Buffalo throughout the game, but he suffered two costly turnovers, an interception and a lost fumble. The two quarterback turnovers, along with a lost fumble by Mark Andrews, ultimately decided the game.
Allen’s final stat line won’t impress anyone looking at the box score. He threw for just 127 yards (16 of 22) while rushing for 20 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. However, it was enough for the team to advance since the quarterback did not commit any turnovers.
For Allen to go on and win just like Jackson told him to, the Bills quarterback will have to find a way to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. The Chiefs are 3-0 in the playoffs against Allen and the Bills. It won’t be easy, but Allen and the Bills found a way to win this season despite the team’s doubts from the start.
