Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson will not fight in a boxing ring next weekend after all.
The former UFC champions were to compete during the main event of ICS Mania 1 on April 12 in The Pit in Albuquerque, NM
ICS Boxing has published a statement, declaring that “the fight of April 12 is still underway. The Undercard and the Co-Princhipal always take place. And Rashad Evans combat a new opponent. ”
However, it seems that Evans will not fight this event either – with or without Jackson. Evans also published his own declaration on this subject.
“This decision was something we did not want to take. We knew how much fans were looking forward to the event, and we also impatiently expected. We have encountered unexpected challenges with promotion and certain key contractual obligations are not fulfilled as expected,” said Evans in his declaration.
Evans still hopes Boxer Jackson in the future.
During their first meeting, Evans was victorious at the UFC 114 in May 2010 via a unanimous decision in a main event without title after having trained against each other in season 10 of The ultimate fighter. Evans returns to the world of combat sport for the first time since his end of his retirement in 2022 with a victory over Gabriel Check for Eagle FC.
Jackson has been out of service since a defeat in December 2019 in the first round against Fedor Emelianenko to Bellator 237. “Rampage” managed a total of 20-10 thanks to his UFC and proud races, as well as victories in five of the eight outings of Bellator.
