Tory Lanez is “deeply grateful to God” and thanking his supporters after being attacked on Monday in a California prison where he was serving a 10-year sentence for shooting the star of hip-hop Megan Thee Stallion in his feet.
An article on his social media checked Monday shared that Lanez, who was born Daystar Peterson, was “stabbed 14 times – including 7 injuries in his back, 4 at his chest, 2 at the back of his head, and 1 on the left side of his face.”
“His two lungs collapsed, and was placed on a respiratory system,” said the post. “He now breathes alone.”
According to the post, “despite the pain, he speaks normally, in good humor, and deeply grateful to God that he passes.”
“He also wants to thank everyone for their continuous prayers and support,” concluded the position.
CNN has contacted the representatives of Lanez to comment.
The Associated Press reported that the Canadian artist had been attacked in a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution of Tehachapi around 7:20 am according to Pedro Calderon Michel, spokesperson for the State Department of Correctional Services and Rehabilitation.
The staff immediately gave Lanez medical aid and called 911, and he was taken to the outdoor hospital, said Michel. The prison investigation unit and the office of the Kern County District District, he said.
In December 2022, a Los Angeles jury found a guilty of three charges related to the shooting in July 2020 of his colleague rapper Megan Thee Stallion whose legal name is Megan Pete.
She testified during the trial she and let go had left a party at the Hollywood hills of Kylie Jenner in July 2020 when Lanez fired a weapon in the back of her feet and ordered her to dance. She said that the shooting had taken place after their argument and that she left the SUV in which they had traveled.
“Each day, I think of others around the world who are victims of violence and survive. It is really the most helpless feeling, especially when you wonder if the judicial system can really protect you,” she said in a statement that the County of the County of George Gascón read during a press conference after the Clear condemnation. “Fortunately, the district prosecutor’s office fought for me. I am incredibly grateful to them and the jury for the attention to the evidence and satisfies myself with the truth. But if it can happen to me, imagine those who do not have the resources and support systems to help them. ”
Lanez insisted on his innocence and his lawyers called on his conviction. In May 2023, a judge rejected the request to receive a new trial. The star’s legal team had argued that some of the evidence presented had been wrongly in the trial.
