A California rapper was shot dead while hosting the opening of a beauty salon after repeatedly promoting her appearance online.
Tan DaGod announced her meet-up at Glamor Beauty Supply in Oakland just days before she showed up on Saturday — when she also shared a video of herself meeting fans inside the salon during the event.
She was then shot dead around 5 p.m. Saturday, leaving some of the fans who had come to greet her to rush to nearby stores, witnesses told KRON.
“I heard gunshots, I thought it was part of their music,” an employee at a restaurant across the street told the outlet.
DaGod, known locally for her rap music, was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A second person was also shot, but the unidentified victim is expected to recover.
The motivation behind the shooting remains unknown and the shooter remains at large.
An employee at a nearby restaurant described the suspect as a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Tributes began pouring in outside the store hours after the shooting. Flowers were laid on the sidewalk outside the store, spelling out her name, while people were seen hugging each other and sobbing.
