Rangers fans celebrate loudly at the Garden after Game 6 thriller

The Rangers’ thrilling Game 6 win over the Hurricanes in Game 6 happened on the road, but that doesn’t mean Madison Square Garden was quiet Thursday night.

The Garden was a packed house to watch the Rangers’ 5-3 victory, and fans even threw their hats onto the empty ice after Chris Kreider’s natural hat trick sent them to the Conference final. East.

Jubilant Rangers fans celebrated outside MSG after the big win as fans shouted, “We want Boston!” interspersed with “Let’s Go Rangers” chants.

These Rangers fans might not get their wish.

That may not matter to Rangers fans, many of whom made the trip to Raleigh for Game 6, watching the game live from PNC Arena.

Kreider, in fact, banged the glass in front of a section of jersey-clad Rangers fans after his game-winning goal in the third period.

With a little luck – plus the Bruins wins in Games 6 and 7 and another Knicks win – the NHL and NBA could find themselves facing an all-Boston and New York conference final.

Until everything is sorted out, Rangers fans can plan for at least two more games at the Garden as the franchise looks to end a championship drought dating back to their 1994 Stanley Cup victory.
