Rangers-Devils game descends into chaos with insane line brawl in opening seconds

Deploying their fourth lines to begin their third and final meeting of the season, with Rangers face-hitter Matt Rempe on one side and Devils enforcer Kurtis MacDermid on the other, a five-on-five brawl ensued upon opening. puck drop in a chaotic scene at center ice at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

Rempe, who had been ejected (and then suspended once for four games) in each of the previous two games for hits that knocked Devils players out for long periods, faced MacDermid.

K’Andre Miller faced John Marin.

Matt Rempe was among those who appeared in many fights for the Rangers.

Jimmy Vesey fought Curtis Lazar.

Barclay Goodrow dropped the gloves with Kevin Bahl.

Captain Jacob Trouba went for it with Chris Tierney.

Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette and Devils interim coach Travis Greene then began to bite each other from their respective benches.
