While the Red Sox began a series with the Royals yesterday, the owner of Sox John Henry, the CEO of the Sam Kennedy team and the Director of Baseball Craig Breslow All gave themselves up for Kansas City in response to RAFAEL DEVERS“Comments Thursday on his refusal to play the first goal, and his dissatisfaction with what the Slugger felt was an unreasonable series of high management requests. Henry and director Alex Cora (with Kennedy and Breslow not present) met in private before Friday’s match for a long meeting which, in theory, helped erase the air on what has become a public controversy.
None of the deals, Henry or Cora commented on the meeting, but Breslow told journalists (including the Jen McCaffrey of athletics) that Henry said “Honest and frank exchange“Took place in the situation. The intention, according to Breslow, was to have “An honest conversation on what we appreciate as an organization and what we believe is important for the Boston Red Sox and it is large teammates for each other. And so we think we had a productive conversation. John seems to have had a productive conversation. And this is where things are now. “”
In a follow -up on what Breslow considered a great teammate, he replied “I think it’s 1, being honest and open with communication. I think it recognizes when there is a possibility of intensifying, when the group is necessary for any individual performance or fulfillment to be. And I think it is important that it is reinforced given what we hope to accomplish. “”
Devers said Thursday that he had challenged Breslow recently by asking for a change of position to the first goal, and the two parties have not yet spoken since Devers has made public his frustrations. Although Breslow said that his conversation with Deves was more “exploratory“Of nature about a possible transition to the first basis, the CBO provided a certain responsibility for the delicate situation.

After having spent his first eight seasons as a third goal player from the Red Sox, Devers has become a full -time DH this season to adapt Alex Bregman (a much better defensive player) in the warm corner. Devers has long expressed his preference to stay in the third goal and even pursued this position after the signature of Bregman, although he finally declared that he was “It’s good to do what they want me to do. “After a slow start on the plate, Devers has crushed the ball in the past two weeks, apparently settling in its new role of designated striker.
