The 21st century has not been kind to RadioShack. The once-dominant electronics component retailer simply couldn’t compete with big box stores like Best Buy and online retail juggernaut Amazon.
February 2015 saw the company delisted from the New York Stock Exchange before declaring bankruptcy the same month. Later that year, RadioShack began the process of shuttering nearly 2,000 brick and mortar stores.
In 2023, Unicomer Group acquired the global rights to the company — fitting, as the El Salvador-based holding company controls still operational locations in Central and South America. At CES 2025 this week, the firm offered a glimpse at what the deal means for the U.S.
In a bid to capitalize on a name that once carried clout in the tech world, Unicomer is adding RadioShack branding to a bunch of consumer electronics. That includes things like a Bluetooth speaker with RGB lighting ($58), a gaming chair ($250), headphones ($28), and a projector ($112).
