The high -level competition between Indian pillars Koneru Humpy and Dronavalli Harika ended with a quick draw, even though Zhu Jiner in China maintained his only lead in the female Grand Prix de Fide in Pune on Friday.
The head of night, Jiner, offered a certain austere defense to get out of a difficult position and save a draw against Nurgyul Salimova in the fifth round in Amanora La Fougère.
VAIHALI BAT MUNUTUUL
After a not so good departure, R. Vaishali gathered his act to defeat Im Batkhuyag Mununtuul in a sparkling match, guaranteeing his first victory. Divya Deshmukh also had to remain satisfied with a draw after a hard -sized outing against Polina Shuvalova.
Jiner continued to be the only leader with four points and dragging half a point behind her is Humpy and Divya with 3.5 points each. Harika, Polina and Vaishali follow behind 2.5 points each.
Vaishali and Mununtuul fought in a Kings-Indian attack. Vishali was in an aggressive mode and began to target the king of his opponent by rolling his pawns on the king side.
After the exchange of queens, it was a captivating battle between the knights, the bishops and the towers in an open board. At the 40th Board of Directors, Mununtuul made an error with a knight movement and Vaishali was quick to capitalize and head for victory after 52 movements.
“After the 40th round, I started to feel the victory. We play against strong players every day and a day of rest is welcome,” said Vaishali after the match.
Saturday is a day of rest.
HUMPY against Harika
The Humpy against Harika saw the two players adopt a cautious approach and sign peace after the first stages, the game only lasts 19 movements.
By the way, Hummpy had beaten Harika in the first round of the female Grand Prix Fide in Monaco in February of this year after more than eight years of games drawn.
The two are the two best players in India for almost two decades and Hummpy said later: “It was a fairly solid position and did not want to support further.”
