Quick overview of the week ahead

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to head into the new week.

Let’s start with a quick overview of the week ahead.

Before we start with the calendar, it goes without saying that the geopolitical situation will also be in focus this week. Here’s a quick summary of the geopolitical developments we had this weekend from Eamonn.

Today (April 8) is a bit of a snooze, but we have the SNB Jordan rising a bit later (see central bank calendar at bottom).

MONDAY CALENDAR (APRIL 8, 2024)

Tuesday (April 9) doesn’t look much better in terms of risk events.

We have some business confidence data for Australia and NFIB for the US, but nothing too big to get excited about.

CALENDAR TUESDAY (APRIL 9, 2024)

Wednesday (April 10) will be a busy day. We start the day with the RBNZ policy decision in the Asia Pacific session, then things heat up nicely at the start of the US session with the US CPI and BoC policy decision.

CALENDAR WEDNESDAY (APRIL 10, 2024)

Thursday (April 11) will also be a busy day with US CPI in the Asia-Pacific session, followed by the ECB policy decision in the European session, then jobless claims and US PPI at the start of the American session.

CALENDAR THURSDAY (APRIL 11, 2024)

Friday (April 12) is not very exciting, but we have Chinese trade data during the Asia-Pacific period, UK growth data at the start of the European session and then data on sentiment from University of Michigan published at the start of the American session.

FRIDAY CALENDAR (APRIL 12, 2024)

Below is a list of central bank speakers this week, but keep in mind that this list may change throughout the week.

Central bank conference schedule (April 8-12, 2024)

Good luck there.
