Projections: Vintage Hendrick performance in Darlington?

Projections updated after the training and qualifications on Saturday.

Despite its four pilots in the first five in the Nascar Cup series ranking, Martinsville was a failed opportunity for the Hndrick Automobile Sports camp to find the vice-president of “perfection”, Jeff Gordon, underlined after Kyle Larson’s victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Today’s race at Darlington Raceway (3 p.m. HE, FS1, Radio MRN, Sirius XM Nascar Radio) is the perfect setting for Hendrick to bounce back and execute the table in the ranking.

The first metric of Racing Insights predicted the four drivers of Hendrick to the top 10 net – something that the organization has already done twice this season. After training and qualifying, Bowman fell 14th, but disturbed the top 10 in the last two spring races in Darlington. Byron and Larson have already won on the emblematic track and are big candidates to win again, in particular with Byron winning the Light Busch post. Elliott failed to record the Top 10 in both strokes in South Carolina last year, but he has a better finish of the third in this race two years ago and finished the top 20 in the seven races this season.

Other drivers to monitor

Tyler Reddick: Since the beginning of 2022, Reddick has been one of the best, otherwise THE Best, in Darlington. He has three top finishes, 275 LED rounds and an average racing position of 6.8 to “the track too difficult to tame”.

Chris Buescher: Buescher could have won this race last year if he had not collided with Tyler Reddick, which led to a fiery discussion. Not only did Buescher started the last three Darlington races in the top 10, but he also recorded five top 10 in the last eight races there.

Kyle Busch: It was the fall race, but Rowdy had one of the best cars when he finished second to hunt Briscoe in Southern 500 2024. Busch did not win in Darlington since the spring of 2008, but recorded 15 top 10 on 26 departures from Darlington. In addition, the track has an end of long sequences without victory.

Ross Chastain: He won a seventh place last week and comes to the “Lady in Black” this week, where he had three first shows in 11 departures. Sunday will be a great opportunity for Chastain to chain solid weekends together.
