After a 3-1 defeat against the Winnipeg jets who saw their sequence of victories end during a franchise record 12 games, the St. Louis Blues have more work to do as they continue their road trip on Wednesday evening against the Edmonton Oilers in Rogers Place (9 p.m., TNT, Trutv, Max, 101 ESPN).
With a victory for the regulations against the Oilers (and a loss of regulation by the Flames de Calgary in Anaheim), the Blues could win their place in the eliminatory series of the Stanley Cup for the 46th time in the history of the franchise.
Blues Jim Montgomery’s head coach is likely to make changes to his lines before for Wednesday’s match. Jordan Kyrou and Jimmy Snuggerud had exchanged lines in Wednesday’s skate, which means that Kyrou went up with Pavel Buchnevich and Robert Thomas, while Snuggerud moved to play with Jake Neighbors and Brayden Schenn.
“We did not like our attack at 5 against 5 the last games, in particular the last and a half game,” said Montgomery about the change. “So we try to create more possession, a Litlte more sustainability with our offense.”
In addition, Montgomery said there was “good luck” that the blues would use Dalibor Dvorsky tonight. He skied with Oskar Sundqvist and Zack Bolduc in the morning skate, where Mathieu Joseph was in the programming.
Jordan Binnington should play with the goal.
