The long -standing commentator Jim Ross has colon cancer.
Ross, 73 years old, said Thursday in an article on social networks that he had been diagnosed this week and is expected to undergo surgery over the next two weeks.
“I appreciate your concern and support,” he wrote.
Ross is best known for his stay with World Wrestling Entertainment from 1993 to 2013. His slogans infiltrated popular culture and made him one of the most popular playing gaming voices of all time.
The line, “my god” or “by God”, said Oklahoma in his particular moment, is perhaps his most famous. Other categorical calls such as “he is broken in two” and “this man has a family” often replaces the original commentary on the protruding facts of punchy football on social networks.
Ross is a football passionate and football booster from Oklahoma Sooners who often went to the ring with the school’s fighting song, “Boomer Sooner”, playing.
Ross, who was inducted at the WWE renown temple in 2007, has been with All Elite Wrestling since 2019.
“The whole elite struggle joins fans around the world to send love and support to Jim Ross while fighting colon cancer. JR is a precious member of the AEW family, and we stand next to him during his journey to recovery,” said AEW in a statement.
