Prince William pilots a helicopter as the Army Air Corps’ new colonel in chief

King Charles has given a prestigious role in the Army Air Corps to his son, the Prince of Wales.

The king became colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps 32 years ago – and is now succeeded by his eldest son.

After his father’s symbolic handover, Prince William donned military fatigues and flew an Apache helicopter from the air base.

He was previously an RAF search and rescue pilot and spent three years at RAF Valley on Anglesey.

“The great thing is that he is a really good pilot,” the king said at the ceremony in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.
