Prince William celebrates Aston Villa’s opening goal against Lille with Prince George at Villa Park – as the duo watch the Europa Conference League quarter-final amid Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis battle

Prince William and Prince George were seen celebrating Aston Villa’s opening goal against Lille at Villa Park on Thursday evening.

The pair were spotted during TNT Sport’s live coverage of the match, standing and applauding Unai Emery’s side after Ollie Watkins put the hosts 1-0 ahead after 13 minutes.

Prince George was also seen wearing a burgundy and blue Aston Villa scarf and smiled as he stood next to his father. William, who is a keen Aston Villa fan, turned around and appeared to say a few words to his son as they stood inside the terraces.

In March, the Princess of Wales announced that she was in the early stages of treatment following a cancer diagnosis.

Kate Middleton, 42, announced the news in an emotional video filmed at Windsor Castle, saying the news came as a “huge shock”.

She added that she and William had “done everything we could to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

The princess also said it had been an “incredibly difficult two months” for her and her family, but said she was “doing well and getting stronger every day”.

Earlier this week, Kensington Palace released thank you cards to members of the public who sent well wishes to the princess following the announcement.

William has continued to support his wife and family, and in recent months has been seen continuing his royal duties. In February, he spoke with Holocaust survivor Renee Salt at London’s Western Marble Arch Synagogue and took part in discussions about the rise of anti-Semitism in Britain.

Earlier this week, he was reportedly spotted on a “low-key” outing in Norfolk with his mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, while his wife reportedly stayed at home.

Carloe reportedly stayed with the couple over Easter and supported her daughter throughout her recovery at her home in Windsor.
