Prince Harry resigned as a royal work in 2020 and left the United Kingdom, leaving the question of how he should be protected during the visits.
He feels that often the paparazzi are too close to him and Meghan Markle, demonstrating the risk he faces. The fact that her mother, Princess Diana, was died in a car accident while being prosecuted by photographers are behind her concerns.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were themselves prosecuted by photographers, described as “reckless” by police during an incident in New York in May 2023.
In February 2020, the executive committee for the protection of fees and public figures decided that instead of the VIP security of coverage provided to the Royals Seniors, the arrangements for the prince should be examined on a case -by -case basis.
He challenged the decision before the High Court, but the judge decided that he was “legally solid”, concluding in a long judgment that questions concerning the intrusion of the media were not a question for the Royal Security Committee. He now brings the case to the court of appeal.
Despite the loss of court, the police protected Prince Harry in the United Kingdom during his visits, which included appearances in court for his other legal battles against the media.
