Prince Harry is not fit to receive the Pat Tillman ESPY awards, and it’s shocking that ESPN let him…at least that’s what the late veteran’s mother thinks.

Mary Tillman — mother of former NFL safety Pat Tillman, who joined the U.S. Army after 9/11 and died in a friendly fire incident — spoke to Daily Mail about ESPN choosing Prince Harry to receive the ESPY named in Pat’s honor…and, suffice it to say, she’s not happy with the decision.

Tillman says: “I am shocked why they chose such a controversial and controversial person to receive this award. »

Mary adds that she believes there are individuals more suited to receiving the coveted trophy… unsung heroes who don’t have the Duke of Sussex’s immense platform.

Tillman confirms that ESPN did not consult her… pretty clear given his harsh condemnation of her selection for the honor.

If you don’t know…the Pat Tillman Award for Service is an annual honor presented at ESPN’s awards show to an individual or individuals who have served others in a way that exemplifies Tillman’s legacy.

ABC

Last year, the honor was given to the Buffalo Bills coaching staff for saving Damar Hamlinafter suffering a cardiac arrest on the field.

It’s worth noting that Prince Harry has strong ties to the military community (he served two tours in Afghanistan and founded the Invictus Games for wounded veterans) but Mary doesn’t seem impressed by his resume.

“The name Pat Tillman is talked about a lot. American Hero… There is now an award named after him, as it should be in the world of sports, because he is someone who embodies selflessness. It will be awarded to Prince Harry. I don’t even think he’s a prince yet. You see,… pic.twitter.com/eLx3rO2M1h

BTW Mary is not alone here – with the ESPN talking head Pat McAfee He also blasted the decision on his show Friday… saying he thought his network was working hard to “piss people off.”

We’ve reached out to Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation for comment…so far, no response.
