Prince Harry met with war victims Thursday during an unexpected visit to Ukraine as part of his current work with injured veterans, a spokesman said.
Harry visited the superhuman center, an Lviv orthopedic clinic which treats and rehabilitates military staff and wounded civilians, to see first -rate services provided in a country in the middle of the war. The center provides prostheses, reconstructive surgery and psychological help free of charge.
The Duke of Sussex, who served 10 years in the British army, made help with the wounded soldiers one of his most important causes. He founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to offer injured veterans the challenge of participating in sporting events similar to the Paralympic Games.
Harry was accompanied by a contingent of the Invictus Games Foundation, including four veterans who have lived similar rehabilitation experiences.
The visit to the region of western Ukraine was only announced after leaving the country.
He went to Ukraine after spending two days to a London court where he attracted the British government’s decision to strip him of his protection funded by the government after leaving his duties as a member of the royal family in 2020 and moved his family to California.
The prince is not unrelated to the war, having made two tours in Afghanistan, where he stole missions as a co -pilot of Apache helicopter.
Harry, 40, the youngest son of King Charles III, is the second member of the royal family to visit Ukraine. Her aunt, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, has become the first British royal royal to the country since the invasion of Russia in 2022 when she made an unexpected visit to kyiv last year.
The royal family was frank in its support for Ukraine. King Charles warmly welcomed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a demonstration of support in his field on the North Sea coast only two days after his extraordinary dressing by US President Donald Trump in the White House.
Harry’s older brother, Prince William, met Ukrainian refugees during a two -day visit to Estonia last month.
